Well I love my sweet baby I love her I do Tried to tell her mama She cried, “No not you” Chorus Don’t you know she’s One fine baby She’s one fine girl Well I love my baby I take her with me I will, Packed up that rider Her possessions in a trunk Loaded up my automobile Left her folks in a funk Now her mammy took to cryin’ Her pappy’s moanin’ too I know how they feelin’ cause I’d miss her too Well we’ll build a little homestead They may visit anytime But I must tell those good folks That gal is mine

I got a dirty stinky woman without any shoes. My stinky little momma got me singin’ the blues. Well I ain’t too fussy but I sure am proud. That aromatic woman got me cryin’ out loud. I asked my baby why does she smell so ? I asked my little baby what should we do. She passed me a plate of garlic and said, “How about you?” I ate that good stuff down in no time flat. -that garlic started coming out my pours Well it was pretty soon I was stinky just like that. -I was smelling up the joint something fearse I took that stinky woman and in the shower we got. -I turned the water up, I turned the water up hot!! That stinky baby sure loves me a lot. I scrubbed my baby from head to toe. -I got out the brush & a bottle of soap I scrubbed my baby from head to toe. By the time I was finished scrubbin’ there was nothing left to love. -I must have washed her down the drain -Well I sure hope you had as much fun as I did -Perhaps you’re behind the shower curtain -Maybe under the sink -Oh that’s it in the hamper -It would be nice if you were in the next room toweling off waiting for me -We’ve only got a few bars of this song left -You best show your self soon or we’ll be all washed up

Up in my little perch I can sit and play The sun comes smiling in and I join the day Birds flutter bye and chirp a tune They let me know I must leave soon I put my guitar in its case Leave my soul in its place Gotta go on out and earn a wage Seems like just the other day we’d send dad and that big yellow lunch box off to work It would be full of my Joe Louis and his Rolaids Mom would pack a lunch and send Kim and I off to school “Where the hell did those pastries go?” she’d say “EDWARD!!” I’d wipe the tears from my face Leave my soul in that place Had to go on out and make the grade Now you know me and my old man we’re two peas in a pod All we ever do is bitch and moan about our jobs Sometimes I wonder who repeats themselves more him or I Guess I’ll ask that question until the day I die I’ve gotta step up the pace Leave my soul in that place Today’s just another workin’ day

My Own Man 02:59
You seem to think that You know what’s best when Everything falls down Cast out your judgement I’m left here feeling I’m wasting my time Chorus It’s time I become my own man Make you moan and you wail It’s time I become my own man Kick the stones from my trail You should do this and You should do that is All I am hearing You speak your mind like All your opinions Had sacred value
5.
Trashed again, Smashed again, Mashed into pieces That's my heart, When I lose my cool Broken chairs, Clothing tears, Bewildered stares, I just don't care. Lock me up, Throw away the key, I'll punch holes in the walls to satisfy me. There is a beast in me, And all I see is red on red, Should be a hole in my head. Muscles clench My fist swings out I don't know why I begin to shout I loose my cool I can't hold back Once again I'm off the track.

5x7 04:08
Left my sandals by the door and our tears in the drive way I was burn’n down the highway goin’ my way My Bell cards got the scars but my heart it’s achin’ Twenty sunny days and this song in the makin’ Chorus Gonna jump in my car and take Hwy 7 Gettin’ back to you is gonna feel like heaven Doo Doo’s etc. Connecticut’s alright its been sunny and warm But I really miss you baby and I feel torn There’s a bald guy down here with dark rimmed glasses All the chicks go wild when he passes Chorus Gonna pack up my axe and put on my shades Get behind the wheel and leave today Doo Doo’s etc. Baby send me your photo and a little perfume I’d really like to see it here by noon Doo Doo’s etc.

Asbestos Sky 03:58
I walk through the park The sun’s on the rise Morning air fills my lungs Blood and bone, starves and cries Tears fill my eyes I know I’m bound to die Under an asbestos sky There’s a big tin can Over the hill Where we slave away And cash in our days Another morning is broken For the rhythm For the life Of a token I know I’m bound to die Under an asbestos sky In the din of the hive Where no wind can breathe life I kick and scream for release No wage can bring me peace I know I’m bound to die Under an asbestos sky

26 Years 03:25
26 years of service for not - 3x Something’s going to break down, cause you got to fill up. Just a boy of 14 when he left home Some drunk signed the papers, put the wheels on the road Busting his ass in some sweaty shack Got to keep moving cause he ain’t going back. At 27 he’s got a wife, baby and house of his own Now he’s driving truck to make the mortgage loan Before he knew it Jr. was off to school So he settles down to learn the Golden Rule. Now he’s all hooked up at the factory Taken them orders from a faceless wannabe Well his hand never shook when collecting his pay Causes he’s got to stand tall come the Judgement Day. Bridge At 60 he broke he did not bend But the faceless they could not comprehend The Golden years lay tattered, shattered all around If they had there way he’d be 6 feet in the ground.
9.
You probably don’t have so much as a clue What sort of traitor I am to you You write you speak you cultivate I’m tired it’s dark You manipulate Oh Oh Oh … My precious hours you carelessly spend Make me hide Around the bend Dead on my feet in this tiny town Cut to your level You’re wearing me down
10.
Resent you in silence Walk through the door and put my life on hold I’m Paradise in Denver Your Moriarty on the road All my plans for the future Are bound to explode Chorus Travelin’ man I think I’ve found my home Live my life close to the bone I watch the girls go by But I never bite No matter how it chokes me No matter how tight A hopeless situation A man of honor I am I go down to the station Suitcase in my hand Chorus Pocket full of dirt From a road that ain’t no use Can’t seem to shake these On the road blues

about

”Pat Johnson knows a thing or two about style. The blues loving singer-songwriter from Brockville, ON has crafted an admiral debut that runs the gamut from angry hillbilly reggae to Beatnik gumshoe groove. Johnson's clean finger-style guitar gives the bluesier material a Mississippi John Hurt sort of charm and his lyrics are humorous and entertaining. What really makes this debut stand out though is the addition of what might be the most stylish of all instruments — the tuba. The duets between the tuba and guitar found here would surely make even Taj Mahal crack a smile.”
